When Do All Teams Release Their World Cup Kits? The Guide to 2026 World Cup Kit Drops

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, interest in not only the tournament itself but the kits that each nation will be wearing is starting to ramp up. But when does each team release their World Cup kits? The answer depends largely on which manufacturer they're partnered with.

Adidas Have Launched, Nike Yet to Release

The first wave of 2026 World Cup kit releases have been released, with there being clear differences between major sportswear brands in terms of timing of release. In November 2025, Adidas launched home kits for all 22 of their national teams simultaneously, which included their "big" names such as Argentina, Germany, Spain, Italy, as well as one of the one of host nations, Mexico.

Puma followed in December, unveiling home kits for Portugal - their first for a major tournament after a longstanding relationship with Nike, as well as Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and Iceland.

However for Nike World Cup shirt releases you'll have to wait a little longer. It's estimated that their releases will be March, possible April 2026, just a few months before the June 11th kickoff.

Adidas currently leads the number of World Cup kits they are producing with 13 teams, followed by Nike with 11 and Puma with 10. The expanded 48-team format means eight additional brands including 7Saber, Majid, and Kelme will also feature.

Home vs Away Shirts - The Time Delay

While Adidas and Puma have already released their home kits, away designs are suggested to arrive sometime in March and/or April 2026. Nike will release both home and away kits simultaneously at the same time frame..

This two-phase approach serves multiple purposes. Home kits generate the most excitement, so releasing them early capitalises on World Cup buzz before the turn of the year (as well as being able to sell during the Christmas period). Away kits, often featuring more experimental designs, and help maintain momentum closer to the tournament when kit sales start to increase.

How Did World Cup Qatar 2022 differ?

With the World Cup returning to the summer, the kit release schedule differs from the last World Cup, with Qatar's November-December schedule forcing kit manufacturers to compress their release timeline significantly.

For Qatar 2022, Puma launched home kits in late May 2022, six months before the tournament. Adidas released home and away kits simultaneously early September, just two and a half months before kickoff. Nike followed towards the end of September releasing both jerseys at once, showing a similar trend by being the manufacturer of the big three to release their designs last.

This compressed timeline meant kits arrived much later than traditional summer World Cups, where releases typically begin eight to ten months in advance. The 2026 tournament, returning to the summer timeframe, has seen releases begin much earlier - seven months before kickoff for Adidas teams.

96 World Cup Kits instead of 64

The 2026 World Cup marks a watershed moment for kit releases. With 48 teams instead of 32, there are more jerseys than ever before with 96 kits (home and away, not counting Goalkeeper designs) to be released for this tournament.

We're seeing manufacturers are leaning heavily in bespoke designs rather than templates. Adidas incorporated historical elements like Germany's diamond patterns from their 2014 World Cup-winning shirt, while Argentina's jersey features a three-tone gradient referencing all three World Cup triumphs. Even goalkeeper kits are receiving unprecedented attention, with the upcoming Nike goalkeeper releases set to be based on retro designs.

When to Expect Your Team's World Cup Kit

Already Released: Adidas home kits (22 nations) and Puma home kits (5 nations) are available now.

March to April 2026: Nike home and away kits, plus Adidas and Puma away kits. This represents the peak release period.

Late Releases: Smaller manufacturers may release designs in May 2026, though this is increasingly rare for World Cup-specific jerseys.

The staggered releases create an extended period of anticipation, with new designs dropping regularly from November 2025 through April 2026.
